Another 10,000th homer question. While I was looking at the White Sox homer total, which is approaching 10,000, I noticed that the Pittsburgh Pirates must have been the last franchise to reach that mark. They are now at 10,174 total home runs, which means they must have hit their 10,000th last year some time. I don't remember hearing anything about it at the time, though. Does anyone know if they made a big deal about this? Did the Pirates' TV network announce it? Did the Pittsburgh sports pages even care? Was there a big flashy notice on the scoreboard? Even better: Can you tell me when this homer happened, and who hit it? Is this hitter aware that he hit the 10,000th bomb? Thanks. Okay, I realized after posting this that it would be easy to look it up... so I did. I know who did it now, so we'll make it a trivia question. Any info you have about how the Pirates celebrated would be appreciated, though.... Read More »
